About the AMG exam

The Aviation Mechanic General (AMG) test is the first of three FAA knowledge tests for the mechanic certificate with Airframe and/or Powerplant ratings. It covers the shared foundations: electricity, drawings, weight and balance, fluid lines, materials and hardware, ground operations, corrosion, math, regulations, physics, inspection and human factors.

The test follows the Aviation Mechanic Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-1). These practice exams cover all twelve General subject areas in the proportions the FAA publishes.
